FitDay - Free Diet and Weight Loss Journal App Reviews

Yuck

About 10 years ago I started my weight loss journey and started using Fit Day. I reached my goal with the online version. After two rounds of pregnancy and some other weight loss apps, my weight was stagnant and I needed a boost to lose the last few more pounds. I remembered how much I used to love Fit Day and I couldn’t remember why I had switched to Myfitnesspal. After logging in and downloading the app…I remembered so very clearly. My first entry was Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt. Seemed simple enough. Hmm, no search results found. Okay, let me try Vanilla Yogurt. Hmm, still no results. Okay maybe I’m doing this search thing wrong. How about ‘Yogurt’? No results found. Maybe I can just live with the last few pounds.

Not worth it.

There are a lot of apps that offer most of the features in this app for free. Its too expensive

DisAppster

I downloaded this app last year. Upgraded it to Pro because I was under the impression it had a lot to offer, but the content was just unavailable without upgrading. Wrong..... The Pro content never became available to me after purchase, and I essentially slapped my own hand and said bad purchase and walked away. Then, on my June bank statement, I saw where they had renewed my membership automatically. No email reminder...nothing. I called the number on my bank statement, left a message on voice mail..No return call. Logged into the account successfully, but whenever I tried to access the support features, it required an additional login and surprise surprise, it failed to recognize my login. ( palm-face) ! I had no way to access my payment info, could not in fact even locate it. I was able to send them an email, and they did promptly cancel my account and promise to refund my money in the next 3-5 business days. That is the ONE positive aspect of this entire journey. The app itself is a nightmare to navigate, it wont store updated info, it is just plain poorly managed. My advice is try something, anything, other than this app.

This is NOT FitDay!

I bought FitDay @ version 1.0 for the PC. It was a WONDERFUL app. You could take photos of the barcode on your food and it would auto-add to your food database. You could create meals and store them for the next time you ate the same meal (I eat a lot of the same stuff). NONE of that is in this program - and the attempts to add them are worthless. (I get a photo of the barcode added to my iPhoto library - Whaaaa??) I think this company got sold and the new company figured they fix what wasnt broken. And BEWARE - you will be auto charged at renewal if you make the mistake and buy the upgrade. Worthless, IMHO! Save your money!

Dont upgrade!!

I never got the upgrade! They took my money and the app still says I need to pay to get the upgrades I already paid for. When I reported a problem and went to their site through Apple, the message I sent through their own website was returned as undeliverable!!! Still waiting for a refund!!

Disappointment in Weight Log

I downloaded this ap because I have health and physique goals. When I went to put my baseline weight measure in, the button ended up disappearing. I went to add the goal and the AP kept showing an error message. I got the other features to work but unfortunately this was one of my main indicators for my 90-day plan. I logged a support question in the forum and hope to get a response. Another issue is the mobile user experience. I used the AP on my touchscreen device but went to log in on my mobile, since my credentials were not recognized I decided to reset them but found out there is no retrieve password or change password option. Thats disappointing also because it is a waste of time.

Dont bother

The upgrade is HORRIBLE. Ive been a long time user if the original which was a wonderful tool. Why fix something that wasnt broken. After 4 days, I still cant get it to work. Couldnt be more disappointed. Dont waste your time!

Most recent update is terrible (April 2014)

Heres what they changed and made worse: 1. They took away the choice to use weight as a measure. I want to say, "1.3 ounces," not "a 2" square." 2. The whole numbers and decimal places no longer rotate independently, making it cumbersome to get to the correct amount. 3. The font is much too big, so that I cant see the whole entry. For example, I am looking for "cheese, cheddar," and get entries like "cheese, cheddar or..." What does that mean? I dont know - I have to click on each one separately, instead of just scrolling to what I want. 4. Much slower than the previous version. 5. Crashes constantly. I couldnt get it to work at all on my iPad. On the upside, I do like the status bar that shows how much of your daily calorie budget youve already consumed. I find it interesting that Fitday wants us to pay for a product that is now much inferior to their prior product, which itself had lots of flaws.

Long time user, not anymore

I used this app and online program for over 10 years. This update has me searching for a new one.

DO NOT UPGRADE YOUR APP!

Ive used the online version for several years and the iPhone app almost everyday for the past few years. Ive logged my weight and body measurements and sometimes used the food journal. I used tell recommend it to everyone. But now they want to charge to use all of those features. I will now remove this app and never use it or their website again. Obviously, I will not recommend the app any further.

What a horrible app!

I have been a fitday user for years and this new updated 2.0/2.1 is making me pull my hair out! It takes SO long to add a food now and over half the time there are error msgs and either my food isnt added or the app crashes or its added but the rest of my food for the day has disappeared and I have to logout and log back on to rest it. And this calories allowed bar keeps changing the amount of calories I can have and right now its on track for making me obese in no time! So angry!! Please make it better!!

Mediocre & Spotty Performance

Ive had this app in my phone for almost 2yrs. Tracks my food & activities well- when it works, that is. Receive a message "Cannot access your account" about 30% of the time when I log in- and it forces me to re-log in often. Also experience trouble when adding food; the app often wont reflect my update, even when I refresh the screen. This often occurs when their site is having trouble or undergoing "maintenance." It just happens way too often to be a reliable app. Recently they began charging a fee to add activities to ones log. I dont intend to purchase that option- not worth it. Much easier to open my Safari app and log in on the web. Or switch to another fitness app altogether.

So long, Fitday

Really? You have to upgrade to a paid account just to log actives now? Deleting this off my device for good. There are better apps out there anyway.

Dont like the new format

The new format on my iPhone 4s is terrible. The long food descriptions are truncated and there is no view I can find that allows me to see the entire description.

Terrible

What happened to the macronutrient splits on the main screen? This is integral for any form of tracking and there is no no easy way to view these. Additionally, when viewing "nutrition" it should default to the current day, not the entire week. Even from this screen, while one can view Carbs, Protein, Fiber, and various vitamins/minerals, there is no display of the Fat grams. This update is virtually useless. Skip it and just use the web version until Fitday figures it out. Sorry.

Not liking changes

I do not know what happened. I updated the app and lots if features went away. All my past weights and such. help.. Did I miss something??

Not efficient at all

Takes forever to load your meals for the day. Have to do it one at a time, why cant you just check the foods and then click add all or something? And micronutrients are gone? Very inefficient, stick to the web version.

This app needed an update. But now it is a RIP OFF!

I was disappointed when I realized I paid $2 for an app that had not been updated for years. But it did track food, activity and weight. Well the "update" requires that you pay $11 a year to anything other than food. A pay for app that gets an upgrade which removes functionality that I already paid for and now wants to pay again. RIP OFF!

What a mess

So inefficient. Takes for ever to get to search a food, locate a food, add the food. Why it doesnt share the efficiency of the laptop version is beyond me. Too cumbersome to use so I wait until I have access to my computer.

Do not update!

This update is horrible! Takes 20 seconds to load food page after adding to food log. Thats for every item added! What happened to the macronutrient split? Fat g not even listed in nutrient profile. Hate that weight is now on main screen right at top for all to see when I am in app. Have to search for page that shows calories and grams of protein, carbs etc whereas before the cal, protein, fat and carbs were right on top of food log page. This update made the entire app very slow and not user friendly.
